Robert O. McClelland, Sr., 85, of Silsbee, Texas passed away on the 3rd of January 2014 after a lengthy illness.
He was born November 13, 1928 to R. E. and Nellie McClelland in Jasper, Texas. He grew up in Silsbee, graduating from Silsbee High School in 1946. He was well known throughout the community as the "Coke man", having worked for the Coca-Cola Company for over 40 years. He was a past Worshipful Master of Masonic Lodge #927 and was Past Patron OES Chapter 298. He loved to hunt and to fish. In retirement, he maintained a calendar to keep track of his full schedule of hunting and fishing appointments. He also loved to garden and shared his bountiful produce with others in the community.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Verna Ashworth, Doris Langton, and Betty Stripling.
Survivors include Elizabeth, his wife of 63 years; daughter Gail Hudson; sons Robert Jr. and Ricky; five granddaughters; one great granddaughter and sisters, Virginia Hay and Jane Kirk.
Visitation will be at Farmer Funeral Home from 5 pm - 7 pm Sunday, January 5, 2014. A Memorial service will be 10 am Monday, January 6, 2014 at St. John's Episcopal Church, 1305 Roosevelt Drive, Silsbee, Texas.
