Funeral services for James Edison Wright, Sr. 81, of Evadale will be 10:00 am Monday, January 13, 2014 at Central Baptist Church in Evadale with interment following at R. S. Farmer Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Farmer Funeral Home. Visitation will be 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm Sunday at the church.
Mr. Wright passed away January 11, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his family.
A native of Meridian, MS, James was a lifelong resident of Evadale. He retired from D. S. I. Transport as Vice President. He served his country with the US Navy during the Korean Conflict.
James is preceded in death by his parents Mitchell LeRoux and Cleo Meaders Wright; his loving wife of almost 40 years Dorothy Lee Wright; brothers M. L. Wright and Everett Wright and sister Connie McKinnley.
Survivors include son James Jimmy Wright, Jr. and wife Michelle of Sharpsburg, GA; daughters Deborah Wright Simmons and husband Glenn of Nederland, Elizabeth Liz Wright Abate and husband Chansey and Susan Sue Wright Tousha and husband Rex all of Evadale; brother Dan Wright and wife Ann of Kosciusko, MS; sister Mary Katherine Mathis and husband Fred of Quitman, MS and Mailande Drake of Jackson, GA; sister in law Mildred Wright of Gulfport, MS; ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
He also leaves behind his faithful companion Holly.
