Dale Allen Signs Click for Condolences      Printable Version
1933 - 2014

Dale Allen SignsMr. Dale Allen Signs, age 80, passed from this life into the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on January 13, 2014. Dale was born in Ovid, Michigan in 1933. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Johnson. Dale is survived by his beloved wife and best friend of nearly sixty one years, Shirley Signs; children Richard (Dianne) Signs, David (Beth) Signs, Terry (Peter) Depka, Thomas (Lorraine) Signs, Michael Signs, Darren (Rhonda ) Signs and brother Eugene (Dorothy) Signs. His grandchildren Heather Signs, Tuleisha Signs, Jennifer Gough, Karla Signs, Leah Signs, Jamie Matson, Joseph Depka, Ryan Signs and his great grandchildren, Grace Clark and Brianna (little hotshot)Signs were all his sweethearts and the delights of his life. Dale is also survived by an extended family of aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, brother/sister in laws, step-grandchildren and step-brothers. He also had many special "kids" whom he loved and cherished through the years. Dale worked at several jobs through the years but his primary vocation was sharing the gospel message of Jesus Christ as a gospel singer, evangelist and pastor. Mr. Mustache, as he was called in gospel music circles, was an accomplished tenor singer and sang with many gospel music groups for over 30 years. He was also quite a handyman who could build just about anything; he loved to work in his yard and strove to have the nicest looking yard on his block. Dale was also proud to have served his country as a veteran of the United States Navy. Dale and Shirley were both born and raised in Michigan and were high school sweethearts. They were married on May 7, 1953. After raising their family, they moved to Kentucky in 1986, where they served as the campground directors for the Kentucky/Tennessee conference of the Free Methodist church until their retirement. The many friends they made during their years of service at the campgrounds and at their home church in Bowling Green, KY are highly cherished and loved. Dale and Shirley returned to Michigan in 2013 to live in Greenville, near their many family and friends. A funeral service to celebrate Dales life will be held on Friday, January 17, 2014, at Hurst Funeral Home in Greenville, MI. Visitation is from 12:00 to 2:00pm with service beginning at 2:00 pm. Private interment will be in Vinewood Cemetery, Edmore. A luncheon will be provided after the service at Greenville Community Church, 6596 Vining Rd. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Michigan or Spectrum Health Visiting Nurse Association.

Dear Shirley and Signs Family - My prayers go out to you at this time of transition in life. Dale has touched many lives through his music ministry. We, The Stepping Stones were so honored to meet Dale in 1975 and work with His dream of forming The Michigan Gospel Music Association. What a legacy you all have to hold on to; Dales' love for Jesus, family, and people in general. My prayers will continue to uphold you in days to come - lovingly in Christ, Gloria

Dale and the rest of the Signs family were ever present at Church during my youth. My condolences you out to the entire family. We all know that he has graduated to Heaven. He has joined my father and I am sure that they are singing songs of praise! Dale would be staying in tune though. Sincerely, Dennis Clark

One of most prized memories is getting to hear Dale sing and having the compliment given me "I could sing with him anytime" by Dale. Our heartfelt condolences to his family in this time of sorrow and rejoicing in the knowledge he has gone to sing with the Lord.
