Vernon E. Collier, 79, of Chesapeake, Ohio passed away Saturday January 18, 2014 in the Emmogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, WV. Vernon was born May 7, 1934 in Huntington, WV, son of the late Hershel and Dorothy Barker Collier. In addition to his parents, Vernon was also preceded in death by one son, Steve Collier; two sisters, Irene Adkins and Kathy Torres; and one brother, Bill Collier. Vernon was retired from INCO Alloys, was the owner and operator of Collier Sanitation and Burlington Sand and Gravel, and was Vice President of the River Cities Rodeo Club. Vernon is survived by one son, Bruce (Helen) Collier; one daughter Trina Collier; and their mother Wanda Collier; two grandsons, David (Penny) Collier and Jason Collier; two granddaughters, Heather and Jenny; two great grandsons, Wyatt and Easton Collier; two brothers, Rod Collier and Butch Collier; two sisters, Sue Kilgore and Rita Floyd; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be conducted 1 PM Wednesday January 22, 2014 at Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville, Ohio by Pastor Randy Henderson and Pastor Michael Wright. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point, Ohio. Visitation will be held 6 to 8 PM on Tuesday January 21, 2014 at Hall Funeral Home. The family would like to express a special thank you to St. Marys Home Health and Hospice of Huntington. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Huntington. My heart goes out to the Collier family in your loss. I know Ronnie had many fond memories of Vernon and stories to tell that made him laugh. I am so sorry to all the Collier family for the death of Vernon (My father in Law). He was a wise man, with many stories and a love for the horses. I am sure Vernon and Steve (Pearl)will be together in Heaven.
