1923 - 2014
Doris Bennett, recently of Greenville, passed away at age 90 in Lake Havasu City, AZ on January 23, 2014. Born in Edmore, MI she is survived by her sisters Jean (Leo) Oberst of Edmore and Frances (William) Carr of Ionia as well as her children Gary (Sharon) Bennett of Lake Havasu City, AZ, Patti (Peter) Glasgow of Canton, MI, Neal (Carol) Bennett of Sevierville, TN and her grandchildren Nicole (Drew) Smith of Bollwin, Missouri, Jon Daar of Farmington Hills, MI, Sara (Steven) Tutor of Canton, MI, Sean (Melissa) Glasgow of Canton, MI and two great grandchildren Tyler Smith and Lillian Tutor. She was preceded in death by her husband Horace F. Bennett, from Stanton, and her parents Harvey and Ruth Petersen of Edmore. Mrs. Bennett studied cosmetology as a young woman and worked at a salon in Greenville before marrying and raising three children in Lapeer. She then went on to graduate Cum Laude from Eastern Michigan University and teach high school Home Economics in Lapeer before retiring. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, quilting, and traveling.
Funeral service will be held at Hurst Funeral Home, 1801 West Washington Street, Greenville, MI 48838 on February 1, 2014 at 11:00 a.m.with Rev. Aaron I. Sorrels officiating. Interment to follow at Vinewood Cemetery, Edmore, MI. Visitation will be on Friday from 4 to 7 PM at the funeral home.Memorial contributions may be given to

We sincerely enjoyed all of the times we spent with your parents especially tailgating at the UofM football games. Your parents were a true JOY! May God be with you and your family during this time. We were sorry to hear of the loss of your dear mother, Doris.
