Paul Eugene SmithPaul Eugene Smith, 87, of Huntington, WV passed away February 26, 2014 at his residence. Gene was the husband of Sue Toshiko Smith for 40 years, a loving husband, father and grandfather. Gene was a 1945 graduate of Barboursville High School. Gene served in the Army, spent 12 years overseas and was a WW2 Veteran. Gene sold insurance at and earlier part of his life, he was a construction worker and a proud teamster. Gene is survived by his son Bruce Smith, his grandson's Justin Smith, Cory and Casey Smith, his sisters Catheline Roberts and Dorothy Proctor; his half brother Charlie Smith, Jim Smith and Dennis Smith. Gene's parents were Clifton Smith and Carrie Hatcher. His deceased siblings were Harold, Virginia, Phillip, Raymond, and Robert Smith. Gene was also close friends with Glenn Johnson and Leoland Dalton. Gene touched the lives of many and asked for little in return. He will be greatly missed. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 1, 2014 at White Chapel Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Barboursville, WV. Visitation will be held 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, March 1, 2014 at White Chapel Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville, Ohio assisted the family with arrangements. This man had an influence on my son and called him his, "Goldenboy." He loved his family and the best we could all give him is to stay in good terms with one another. He was A man of peace. I can't say enough good about him. I am glad he accepted Christ into his life when I spent time with him. It was A beautiful thing.
