1963 - 2014

Teresa Chafin CurryTeresa L. Ferris Chafin Curry, 50, of Chesapeake, OH, wife of Rusty Curry, passed away Monday, April 7th in Jo-Lin Health Center, Ironton, OH after a short fierce battle with cancer. She was a 1981 graduate of Chesapeake High School and a 13 year employee of Speedway, most recently as an assistant manager at the Charley Creek, South Point location. She was preceded in death by her mother Wilma Hilgenberg Ferris, her maternal grandparents Louis and Bethel Rowe Hilgenberg and her paternal grandparents Erskine and Ella May Ferris; her father in law Buzz Curry; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Denise and Sammy Clagg;niece Brandy Clagg; and brother-in-law Neil Curry. She is also survived by her father and step mother Hubert and Wanda Ferris, three sons Jason and Ryan (Candace) Chafin of Dayton, OH, Zane (Traci Phillips) Curry of Chesapeake, and stepson Caleb Starkey, of Milton, WV, Nana's babies Elijah, Isabella, Lillian, Dylan and Taylor Chafin and Cobie and Jevon Curry, sister Ruth (Don Thompson) Rice, brother Marty Ferris, sister in law Donna Gail (Avery) Kirk, nieces and nephews Amber, Zack and Dustin Ferris, Dakota Rice and Madison Thompson and a large loving extended family. She was an exceptional daughter, wife, Mother, sister, Aunt, cousin, niece and Nana. She loved her children and grandchildren and her entire family with all her heart. She was the ultimate Daddy's girl happy to mow grass, patch the roof, work on the plumbing or whatever he was working on, she was by his side. She cared for her mother Wilma and her father in law throughout their illnesses. She was the unofficial mother to countless young people who flocked to her for advice, direction, a hot meal, a place to sleep, a warm hug on a bad day and her specialty, unconditional love. She loved and was loved by friends too many to mention. She had a gift that allowed her to show people how much they meant to her. Few people are born with a heart and a work ethic like hers and she leaves behind a void that will never be filled. She was very grateful for the care and love she received from the Doctors and staff at the Edwards Comprehensive Cancer Center and Jo Lin Health Center, they assisted and supported her fight until she had nothing left to fight with. Visitation with be Friday April 11th from 6 to 9 pm. Services will be held Saturday April 12, 11 am at Hall's Funeral Home, Proctorville, OH, Pastor Roger Pierce officiating. Deepest sympathy and sincerest condolences to the Family. Teresa was truly a good person. She told me about her cancer when our paths crossed at a store in Chesapeake. I immediately had tears in my eyes. She put her arm around my shoulder to comfort me and said, "I will be okay, really." That speaks volumes about the kind of woman she was... caring, nurturing, comforting, always worried about the well-being of others. Her smile and gentle way will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. You are in my prayers!

Teresa was a special friend who I had many laughs and a lot of fun with. Even though we had lost contact the last few years she will always be in my memory. Heaven just needed another angel. She will be missed.

May you find peace in that Teresa loved each of you, unconditionally. She smiled every time she spoke your name to me. She talked about her family in the most honorable way, all the time. She kept me up to speed, especially about her momma, daddy, and Dakota. I have seen all the baby pictures of her grandbabies, along with great nieces and nephews. Teresa was a remarkable woman with the strength and courage of a thousand men. She will be missed by so many. Thank you Teresa for touching my life in such a positive way.
