Joyce L. Heck, 80, of Ashland, passed away Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Kings Daughters Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. Joyce was born Oct. 9, 1933 in Ashland, a daughter of the late Earl and Vretious Allen McCall. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband Jennings Earl Heck in 1996.
Joyce was a homemaker, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed playing bingo at the El Hasa Shrine and was in a bowling league for many years. Her biggest joy was caring for her family and her grandchildren.
Joyce is survived by daughters Connie Music and husband Mike of Ironton, Cindy Hall and husband Bill of Ashland, son, Mark Heck and wife Jo of Ashland, step-son, Mike Heck and wife Sue of Kenova, WV, brother, Earl McCall and wife Pam of Ashland, grandchildren, Sean (Kiley) McCall, Brandon Music, Ryan (Katelynn) Music, Chris (Kathryn) Hall, Brittany Hall, great-grandchildren, Ciara McCall, Grayson Music and McKinley Music. Additional survivors include nephews, Shannon (Christina) McCall, Mike McCall, Scott (Jamie) Wells, great-niece and nephew, Hannah and Greydon McCall, special cousin, Vicki Wurts, her special friends, Lou Jones, Leona Hanshaw , Doris McClelland and a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held 2:00pm Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at the Steen Funeral Home Central Avenue Chapel. Pastor Brian Steele will officiate. Burial will follow in the Ashland Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be from 12 noon till 2:00pm at the funeral home on Tuesday.
