 Betty Joe Strickland Booth, 81, widow of Clarence O. Booth, Jr. died April 14, 2014 at St. Marys Medical Center. She was a resident at Rose Terrace Health and Rehab, Culloden, WV and formerly lived in Barboursville, WV. She was born December 23, 1932, in Kanawha County, WV, the daughter of the late Jasper and Kathelene (Grass) Strickland of Clendenin, WV. She was predeceased by eleven brothers and sisters and son-in-law, Allen Short. She was a member of Steele Memorial United Methodist Church and was a member of Rebekah Lodge #143. Mom was the love of my fathers life and together they enjoyed 54 years of marriage. Moms struggles with illness were bravely fought and her faith in God never waived. She adored her family and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Booth Short of Ona, WV; grandchildren: Candie (Jerry) Clatworthy of Huntington, WV and Joseph Short of Lesage, WV; great-grandchildren: Madison Short, Emily and Alyssa Clatworthy; sister, Nellie (Chilton) Mitchell and brother, Danny (Barb) Strickland of Bomont, WV; many nieces, nephews, and her extended Rose Terrace family. The family wishes to express their gratitude to all who have cared for Mom, at Rose Terrace, St. Marys, Steele Memorial United Methodist Church, and Hospice. You all have made a difficult journey easier to bear with your love, words of encouragement and wonderful care. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 17, 2014, at Haven of Rest Memorial Gardens, Hometown, WV, by Rev. Dr. John Sauvage. I would just like to say how very sorry I am about miss Betty she was one of my favorites at rose terrace she always smiled and said she loved me, and I know she meant it. All my love and prayers go out to all her family I would've wrote earlier but just found out about her passing.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Betty!!! She was such a sweet lady and I always enjoyed talking with her when I came to visit my dad. She had such a beautiful smile!!! I will really miss her!!!

Kathy,
I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. I enjoyed talking to her when visting my mother (Faye Fields). Your mother was helpful about alerting me to look at moms oxygen. Most of the time it was empty.
Again I'm sorry about your loss. May time heal the hurt.

Dear Kathy, I am so very sorry that Aunt Betty has passed. I loved her, she was so special to Mary and me, along with Uncle Jun. Aunt Betty was one of the most beautiful people I have ever known. She and Uncle June were so wonderful together, and reminded me of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rodgers with their elegant good looks. Aunt Betty was a gracious and kind lady in the truest since of the words. She was incredibly strong in spite of being so tiny as can be attested to the long struggle she has had with her health. Throughout it all, she remained the beautiful person she had always been. I love you, Aunt Betty. Rest easy now in the arms of God and Uncle June.

So Sorry to hear of the passing of Betty. I worked at Rose Terrace for a little over a year and was very fond of her. I'm sure that you will miss her very much. She is with her Lord & Savior now.
