Funeral services for Vernon Eason, 78, of Jasper, formerly of Fred, will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with interment following in Franks Branch Cemetery in Fred. Visitation will begin at 5:00 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Eason died Sunday evening at his home surrounded by his loving family members.
A native of Fred, Vernon was raised in Fred and lived all his life in Southeast Texas. He worked as a mechanic before an accident at Kirby in 1984 left him disabled. In 1959, he met and married the love of his life, Laura Faye Bailey Eason. He took on her four children and together they added three more to the family. He loved each and every child the same, showing no difference between his natural children and his step-children and they all returned his love ten-fold. Vernon was a loving, caring husband, father, brother and grandfather. He cherished all his grandchildren and great grandchildren and had special memories with each and every one.
Mr. Eason is preceded in death by his parents, Oscar K. 'Doc' and Elizabeth 'Lizzie' Day Eason, his son Michael A. Harper, brother Elmo Eason and sisters Vivian Barrett and Ada Mae Mobley.
He is survived by his loving wife of almost 55 years, Laura Faye Bailey Eason of Jasper; sons Jimmy Tye Harper, Robby Kirk Eason and Rodney Kyle Eason, all of Jasper; daughters Sonya Harper Moore and husband David of Jasper, Tablau 'Tab' Harper Ferguson and husband Kenneth of Fred and Ramona Eason Sisk and husband J R, also of Fred; daughter-in-law Lynda Eason of McAllen; brothers Lavoy Eason of Fred and Ralph Eason of Zavalla; sisters Sugar Bowl Shaw and Mildred Tanton, both of Silsbee; grandchildren, Laura Beth Vietor, Colin Moore, Lance Parks, Salina Bell, Lynn Ferguson, Chris Harper, LeErin Bridges, Sarah Harper, Rowdy Harper, April Harper, Nathan Eason, Gianna Eason, Traci Rogers, Ashley Sisk, Jennifer Lovell and Audrey Sisk; great grandchildren, Oscar and Libby Vietor, James and Bodie Moore, Harrison, Sullivan and Ci Ci Parks, Landon and Laikyn Bell, Lillie Ferguson, Asher Bridges, Hannah and Patrick Harper, Danielle Miller Harper, Slade and Raven Kowalski and Jaidyn Krell. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins who all loved him dearly.
