Arleen I. Alles Click for Condolences      Printable Version
1919 - 2014

Arleen I. AllesArleen Ione Alles, age 95 of Greenville, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Thursday, May 15, 2014. She was born February 25, 1919 in Sheridan, the daughter of Chris and Viva (Andersen) Hemmingsen. Arleen was a lifelong and very active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, teaching Sunday school, supporting youth programs, and volunteering in various capacities. She retired from Federal Mogul after many years of service as an executive secretary. She was hard working and took great pride in the appearance of her yard and her beautiful geraniums. She enjoyed knitting and quilting, traveling, and her beloved Danish Festival. She was generous and giving of her time and resources and was the consummate host. Arleen was a faithful, gracious woman who will be deeply missed, especially by her sister and brother-in-law, June (Bill) Courter and their children, Jim (Chris) Courter and Deb (Tim) McIntyre and families; sister-in-law, Mary Jo (Cy) Hansen; special niece, Jackie (Dan) Vander Lugt; several other nieces and nephews; and by her special East Judd Street neighbors and cherished friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jake; and sister, Joyce Hemmingsen. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. Betsy Kamphuis officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Hurst Funeral Home and Tuesday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at church prior to the funeral. Interment will be in South Sidney Cemetery.

She was one of a kind that was for sure. She will be greatly missed by all her wonderful friends at St. Paul. She always made a lasting impression weather you were young or old.

I m so sorry for your loss. The Bible gives us hope of a resurrection, this is a provision from Jehovah God showing his undeserved kindness. (Revelation 21:3,4) Jehovah is close to the brokenhearted; He saves those who are crushed in spirit. (psalm 34:18)

My condolences to family and friends. My dad (Fred Johnson) worked with Arleen for many years at Federal Mogul. I got to know her through him, and also when I worked there summers while going to college. She was a special lady.

I m so sorry for your loss. May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. Psalm 72:12 For he will deliver the poor one crying for help. Also the afflicted one and whoever has no helper. Please accept my sincere condolences.

Arleen was watching as three generations of little girls grew up at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Our mom Jeanne, my daughter Jennifer, and I loved Arleen's hugs, humor, and high fashion. I moved away long ago but saw Arleen a few months ago in the grocery store and was able to share what was a final hug. I only wish she could have met my granddaughters. I loved her.She was a constant in my life. xoxo

Arleen...one of a kind, so caring and loving to everyone. Always had a smile and a conversation, even if it was about her many lovely pins. She will be missed at St. Paul's as she gave of her time and talents endlessly. Prayers for you all

When we think of the St. Paul Family..we think of Arleen.. What a kind and caring person. She was one of my (Kris) first Sunday school teachers. She was always at Youth Group events to support Tony (director of Youth and Family) them! She was one of the first ladies to come downstairs to get a front row seat to watch Tony get his head shaved when the kids raised money for Habitat! Always a smile.. and a cheer from Arleen. She is with so many of those family and friends that have gone before and is having the time of her life, im am sure, of it in heaven!!! Prayers for all her family and friends& Tony and Kris Bilello
