Frederick O. Grummet, Jr., age 60 of Gowen, died Monday, June 2, 2014 at Spectrum Health Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids. He was born December 7, 1953 in Grand Rapids, the son of Frederick Grummet, Sr. and Rebecca (Fairfield) Grummet. Fred was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He loved his dog, Carter. More than anything, he loved his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with his many friends. He is survived by his children, Steven Grummet of Greenville, Michael Grummet of Florida, and Angel Mason (fiance Jody Gibbons) of Stanton; grandchildren, Shane, Kateleen, Nicholes, Grace, Stone, Sarah, Andrew, Austin, Ashley, and Alli; sister, Ruth Ann Eaton of Belding; brothers, Ken "Sonny" Grummet of Greenville and John "Duke" (Valerie) Grummet of Sheridan; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and several aunts and uncles. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, June 7, 2014 at Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville, with Pastor Karen Morales officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider the needs of the family.
