1924 - 2014
Thomas J. Gillette, 89, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo, Ohio after a long full life. He was born June 25, 1924 in Chesapeake, Ohio son of the late Nettie and Otho Gillette. He worked for the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad for over 30 years, retiring in 1980. He moved his family to the Toledo area in 1962. He married Julia Butcher in 1947 and had a loving marriage for over 50 years until her death in 2001. Tom was an avid fisherman who enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with his family. He and Julia spent many hours in their kitchen baking pumpkin rolls and making candy. He was a member of Life Chapel, Walbridge, Ohio and a WWII Air Force Veteran. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Julia; his son Tommy; three sisters; and four brothers. He is survived by his children Beulah Phillips, Jon (Mary Jo) Gillette and Faith Gillette; three grandchildren Tom (Kristy) Phillips, Christy Golis, Jason (Megan) Gillette; six great grandchildren Katie, Kara, Kallie, Addy, Mason and Brennan; and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, June 20, 2014 at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio by Pastor Jonathan Perry. Burial will follow in Getaway Cemetery, Chesapeake, Ohio. Proctorville V.F.W. Post 6878 will conduct military graveside rites. Visitation will be held 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, June 20, 2014 at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/hall.

Tom was a very close friend to my Mother Jean Bays. We were Sorry to hear of your Loss. He was a Kind, Funloving Man. We visited with him and Julie and they were making Pumpkin Rolls. Lol We Loved them Both. Rick & Belinda Bays.
