Mary Agnes Russell Hinton, 96, of Ashland, passed away June 19, 2014, at her residence with her loving family by her side.
She was born Feb. 1, 1918, in Madisonville, to the late Andrew Jefferson and Jimmie McGary Russell. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Cecil M. Hinton in 2008; an infant daughter, Dianne Hinton; and brothers Jeff and William Russell.
She and her late husband owned and operated Hinton Hatchery, Inc., where she was a bookkeeper for 36 years. For 65 years, she was a very active member of First Baptist Church of Ashland and served as a Sunday school teacher for many years. Her happiest moments were those she spent surrounded by family.
She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Hinton Faris and husband John, Patty Hinton Kidd and husband Terry and Janet Hinton Chatfield and husband Charlie; grandchildren Matthew (Sarah) Hinton, April (Brian) Gillespie, Amanda (Taylor) Brown, and Courtney (Nicholas) Joyce; a grandchild by marriage, June (Tee) Grubb; great-grandchildren Holly Jane Hinton, Cate Hinton, Annie Hinton, Bridgette Hinton, Benny Gillespie, Case Gillespie and Micah Joyce; and a host of extended family members, friends and caregivers.
The funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel in Ashland, and will be officiated by Dr. Scott Kilgore and assisted by The Rev. Harold Moore, Dr. Bill Messer and the Rev. Bill Adcock. Interment will be in Ashland Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
