Gertrude Hammond Click for Condolences      Printable Version 1923 - 2014 Gertrude Hammond age 91 of Turk Lake Greenville passed away Wednesday June 25, 2014 at Twin Oaks Adult Foster Care in Gowen. She was born in Hong Kong, China on May 24 1923 the daughter of Gustavo and Margarita (Durao) Sancho. She was married to Dana Hammond on September 3 1946 in Manila, Philippines. He preceded her in death on January 8 2005. Her brother Stephen Sancho also preceded her in death. She is survived by her children, Dan (Josefina) Hammond of Greenville and Gloria (Don) Frayer of Ionia, grandchildren Jamie, Dan Jr., Brian H., Brian C., Danaiel, Ariane, Anna and Christine, several great grandchildren, her sisters, Sylvia Zaballero and Sally V. Sancho and brother Samuel Sancho all of New Jersey. Funeral services will be on Saturday June 28, 2014 at 3 PM from Hurst Funeral Home with Deacon Dan Schneider as officiant. Burial will be in East Montcalm Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 2 PM until services at 3 PM. Memorial contributions may be given to Eight CAP for senior services or Montcalm Commission on Aging.

Dear Hammond Family, I only knew Gertrude as a client but she was always a joy and her smile always made me smile. She also took great care of her 4 legged friend and I had the privilege of helping with that. I send you blessings, sorrow, and hope as Gertrude passes on to the Church Triumphant. Dr. B.

Our sincere condolences to the family at this very sad time, We have been friends with Gerti for 20 years and will truly miss all the conversations and stories she shared, she was a part of history and such a kind spirit. We will miss you dearly. Rest in Peace dear Friend.
