I was so saddened to hear this news this morning. I loved Grace so much, she was a beautiful, loving and devoted friend; always so positive. She loved her family very much and spoke of them adoringly. May you be continually blessed by sweet memories of her.

Wayne and family ~ what a wonderful person Grace was. We loved her dearly and are so proud to have her as our friend. She was always so happy to talk and visit with Kristie and Katie no matter what was going on and would always ask about them. I first met Grace on the golf course years ago, when I joined the Brookside Ladies League. Grace and Barb Brow were one of our favorite teams to play against. Fast forward a few years and she found her way to you and our paths crossed again. What a wonderful lady...she lit up a room! We're sending you prayers to get through the difficult days ahead.

Grace Sydney Eldred, age 78 of Trufant, died Friday morning, July 11, 2014 in Grand Rapids. She was born February 21, 1936 in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of Louis E. and Eleanor L. (Benjamin) Walker. She graduated from school in 1954 in Fairbanks, AK. She was a longtime resident of Trufant. She worked for many years at Lakeview High School and enjoyed it every day. She was a former member of Faith United Methodist Church in Edmore and a longtime member of Settlement Lutheran Church in Gowen. She married Wayne Allen Eldred in 2004. She leaves behind all those she loved so very much, especially her husband, Wayne; daughter, Susan (Dale) Olmstead; son, Jay Peterson; grandchildren, Gregory, Daniel, Jacob, Jarren, Joslyn, and Lilah; great-grandchildren, D.J. and Nathan; step-son, Mark Eldred; step-grandchildren, Matthew and Megan; brother, Louis (Kay) Walker; sister, Carol Sue Thompson; sisters-in-law, Eloise Covell, Mary Main, Nettie Jane (Dan) Eskin, and Janet (Earl) Hatinger; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Winston J. Peterson; parents; and step-father, Floyd Root. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville, with visitation Friday, July 18 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Inurnment will be in Trufant Cemetery.
