Naomi Ruth Toney, 88 of Huntington, departed this life on Friday, July 18, 2014 at Cabell Huntington Hospital following a long illness. She was born, raised and educated in Logan, West Virginia, the only daughter of the late William C. Nelson and Dollie E. Beckett Nelson. She was a member of the Pentecostal Faith. For many years, Ruth was employed by the Huntington YWCA from where she retired. She always enjoyed being with her family and her friends. Her favorite activities were cooking, gardening and playing bingo. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Linda Nelson; her husband Burgess Toney; and brothers Dave Nelson, Pat Nelson, Junior Nelson, Harry Nelson, Leslie Nelson and Charles Nelson; and great grandson Caleb Toney. Left to cherish her memory are three brothers, Earl Nelson (Shirley) of Jackson OH, James Nelson of OH and Warnie Nelson of Saipan; three daughters, Brenda Brown (Billy) of Huntington WV, Debra Lett (Joe) of Proctorville OH, and Terri Toney of Franklin Pennsylvania; two sons, Kenneth Nelson (Joann) of Logan WV, and Jimmy Nelson of Memphis, TN; ten grandchildren, Kelly Toney Perry (Victor) of Cross Lanes, WV, Jason Toney (Rachel), Doretha Johnson (Brooks), Ernest Toney, Marquita Toney, all of Huntington WV, Alicia Toney of Plantation FL, Nelson Toney (Kendra) of Proctorville OH, Angel Burgess (Aaron) of Logan WV, Tammy Nelson and Carrie Nelson of Memphis TN; thirteen great grandchildren, Devin and Deyshon Perry, Jalisa Toney, Malik, Brookelyn, Aniyah, Isaiah, and Chris Johnson, Isaiah Toney, Ophelia Toney, McKenna Burgess, Kenneth Aaron Burgess and "Baby Toney" on the way. She was blessed by other loving family members, nieces, nephews, cousins and many loving friends. A memorial service for Ruth will be held Monday, July 28, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, 625 County Rd 775, Proctorville, OH 45669, with Pastor Shirley Ball, officiating. Friends will be received from 12:00 noon -1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, should friends desire, the family requests donations be made to the Heritage Center in the name of Naomi Ruth Toney for the establishment of an activity fund.
