William W. Edmonds, Jr.William W. Edmonds, Jr., age 70, longtime Greenville resident, died Thursday morning, July 31, 2014 in Grand Rapids. He was born May 9, 1944 in Belding, the son of William Edmonds, Sr. and Dorothy (Case) Edmonds. He was a proud and decorated veteran, and was the recipient of many honors, including both the Bronze Star Medal and the Purple Heart, for his service in the United States Army in Vietnam. He was a member and past commander of the Lester J. Sitts VFW Post 5065 in Sheridan, and a member of the Ray I. Booth American Legion Post 101 in Greenville. He loved his family and especially loved being a grandpa. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline Geiger-Edmonds; his father, William Edmonds, Sr.; and his brother, Thomas Edmonds. He is survived by his children, Charles Edmonds, Patrick Edmonds (Tasha Miller), Christopher (Kristy) Edmonds, and Joseph Edmonds, all of Greenville, Jessica Woltkamp of Utah, and David Edmonds of Muskegon; grandchildren, Michael, Alex, Kylee, Tanner, Andon, Alton, Brianna, Jade, Charlie, Cayden, and Trenton; mother, Dorothy Edmonds of Belding; sisters, Peggy Mason and Penny Edmonds, both of Belding; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville, with Rev. Ken Harger officiating. Local military honors will be rendered under the auspices of the Lester J. Sitts VFW Post 5065, Sheridan. Visitation will be Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Interment will be in Fort Custer National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the Lester J. Sitts VFW Post 5065 or the Ray I. Booth American Legion Post 101.

Chris and family. I am sorry for your loss. I was fortunate to have known your dad. Like all veterans, a quiet hero who did his duty, came home to work hard and raise a fine family.
