1951 - 2014

Jo  OwensJo Owens (Buttons Flanakin) 62, of Round Rock, TX died Thursday evening August 14, 2014 in her home after a very long fight against cancer. She was in hospice care for 3 months prior to her death. She leaves her husband, Noland Owens of Round Rock, TX; 2 daughter and their husbands Heather Steinkuehler and husband Chris of Victoria, TX, Angelia Hope Paffe and husband Dan of Georgetown TX.

Eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren; a sister Leighann Arinderle and a brother Jerry Jones both of Silsbee, TX.

She was preceded in death by her parents

George Ennis (G.E.) Flanakin and Ouida Mae Flanakin both of Silsbee.

She was born on October 29, 1951 in Silsbee, TX where her father, G.E. was in the logging business for many years. She was very active in her community and always loved doing volunteer work in and around town. She was a high school cheer leader and class queen. After graduating from Silsbee high school she moved to many various states where for the last 15 years she co-pastored with her husband Noland in Jasper, Texas and Raleigh, North Carolina before relocating back to Round Rock, Texas where she had lived for the last 6 years prior to her death.

She loved playing tennis and golf.

More importantly she loved people. She especially loved working with underprivileged children. In ministry she touched many lives all over this country.

She was always known for her passion and for the black and white way she approached life. She was never one to back down from a fight if she believed it was a just cause.

A memorial service will be held at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee TX,

Thursday at 10:30 AM, August 28, 2014.

The family asks instead of flowers, donations be sent to further her interest in childrens ministry to:

I m so sorry for your loss. May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. Psalm 72:12. For he will deliver the poor one crying for help. Also the afflicted one and whoever has no helper. Please accept my sincere condolences.

Heather and Hope, Heard this news only today (8/24)....so sorry for you as you experience the loss of your mom, now and in your future. I have sweet memories of her from so long ago. Praying the Lord is with you as you grieve. Much love to you both!

I have tried to locate Buttons for years. She was a very sweet and beautiful person that I had the pleasure knowing in our high school years. Pray for peace and comfort to her family. God will have another angel !
