1947 - 2014

Roberta Gay Payton NimmoRoberta Gay Payton Nimmo, 67, of Huntington, passed away August 25, 2014 at home. Born February 20, 1947 in Cabell County, she was the daughter of the late Dallas Odell and Halcy Ann Johnson Payton. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, William Mike Nimmo; one daughter, Angela Deanne Nimmo of Huntington; two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael Ray and Tammy Nimmo of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Jeffrey Brian and Karen Nimmo of Ashland, KY; two sisters, Clara Hassie and Rita Wallace, both of Milton; her twin brother, Ray Payton of Kenova; six grandchildren, Constance Nimmo, Morgan Nimmo, Hunter Payton, Evan Nimmo, Anna Marie Nimmo, and Will Nimmo; and special friends Anna Drown and Joyce Black, with whom she spent many hours sharing stories about her family and her various projects. Bertie married the love of her life, Mike, on October 29, 1966. She was a homemaker, and spent her life caring for him and their three children. Her grandchildren, who were her precious angels, and with who she had an extra special connection, meant more to her than anything. A more selfless person will not be found, for every action she took, every party she planned, every gift she shopped for was always for someone else, and never for herself. She was an avid flower gardener. Each spring, she transformed her entire yard to multiple gardens of extraordinary beauty and color. One had only to walk among her flowers to feel the love and dedication she so meticulously gave to them. She was a great source of knowledge on many subjects, and never failed to give the best advice to solve any problem. She knew each member of her family on an intimate level, suffering through their trials and celebrating their triumphs. She will be grievously missed by all who were fortunate enough to have felt her loving care. Visitation will be Thursday, August 28 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel in Barboursville. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. Interment will be in Enon Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/wallace.
