Ivan J Reynolds Click for Condolences      Printable Version
1932 - 2014

Ivan J ReynoldsIvan J. Reynolds, 81, of Chesapeake, Ohio left this world to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, September 2, 2014. A devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and gracious friend, he will be missed by many. Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, September 6, 2014 at Union Missionary Baptist Church, Chesapeake, Ohio by Pastor Robert Barbour and Pastor Randy See. Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery, Proctorville, Ohio. Proctorville V.F.W. Post 6878 will conduct military graveside rites. Visitation will be held 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, September 5, 2014 at Union Missionary Baptist Church, Chesapeake, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Union Missionary Baptist Church Missions. Ivan was born in Huntington, WV to Arvel and Eva Mae Reynolds on October 9, 1932. In 1952, he joined the Navy and was stationed in Boston, Massachusetts where he met his Babe, Catherine Signorini. Ivan and Catherine married in 1955 and made a home in Chesapeake after Ivans service in the Navy ended. Ivan worked at Inco Alloys for 33 years where he retired as a member of the Quality Management team in 1989. He was a faithful member of Union Missionary Baptist Church and served as a Deacon and Trustee. He also gave much of his time in service to his friends and the surrounding community. Ivan was preceded in death by his parents, Arvel and Eva Mae; sister Juanita (David) Reynolds Burke; and brother Dallas (Dolores) Reynolds. He is survived by his wife, Catherine Reynolds; brothers and sisters Clodine (James) Browning, Gary (Maryanne) Reynolds, Larry (Debi) Reynolds, and Danny (Patty) Reynolds; children Kenneth (Denise) Reynolds, Deborah (Grady) Starkey, Susan (Donnie) Bryan, Denise Kincaid, Paula (Stephen) Myers and Steven (Angie) Reynolds; grandchildren Stacie Waggoner, Ryan Reynolds, Grady Starkey, II, Paul Starkey, Stacie (Nate) Smithson, Matthew (Michelle) Sheets, Jason (Amanda) Bryan, Kyle (Sarah) Kincaid, Torie Myers, Tanner Myers, Olivia Reynolds and Riley Reynolds; great grandchildren Morgan Fridley, Raegan Fridley and Madison Sheets; and a host of numerous nieces and nephews. Ivan had a love for Jesus that was evident to all who knew him. A man of few words, his character spoke volumes. His legacy is one of loving-kindness toward his neighbor and reverence to his Heavenly Father. The faith by which he led and nurtured his family allows them to accept this temporary separation and look forward to the day of their reunion. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice of Huntington.

I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus. For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18)

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)

Ivan J. Reynolds is with Jesus.

To Ivan's family; I had the great privelage to care for Ivan when I worked at Rose Terrace Health and Rehab. He was a wonderful man, and a joy to care for. He had his days, as we all do, but Ivan always made my nights working go by so much better. He would smile and let me know he was happy with what I was helping him do. He was never a bother. And I always enjoyed caring for him. He will be greatly missed by me and all thet had tje great joy of caring or knowing him. All my love, higs, and condolences go out to his family. May God wrap his arms around you, and see you all through your time of pain. Just know one day you will see Ivan's smile again, when u meet on the streets of gold in heaven. My deepest sympathy. Love and prayers always.
