1949 - 2014
Katie Burnsworth, of Barboursville, WV, flew through Heavens Gate on Saturday, September 13, 2014. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 15, 2014 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, WV, Mr. Donald Raikes, presiding. Katie was born in Mannington, WV on July 15, 1949 to Huey and Edna Schrader Dye. She is survived by her husband, Ronald, and three children and their spouses; Jeff (Jennifer) of Brandenburg, KY, Scott (Jamey) of St. Albans, and Charlotte (Michael Dorsey) of Barboursville. She was a loving "Mam" of seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was retired from the WVU School of Dentistry, Charleston, and a member of Barboursville Baptist Church. Visitation will be held at Wallace Funeral Home on Sunday, September 14, 2014 from 5-7 p.m. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Huntington, Box 464, Huntington, WV 25709. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/wallace.

I was saddened to hear of Katie's passing.i was a classmate of hers from first grade through our Sr. Year at Mannington High School. She has always been one of my favorite people. She was kind and caring towards everyone. Please know that Katie and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

I have fond memories of spending many summer afternoons at the Fairmont pool with Katie as we watched our kids swim. She was a lovely person and my thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

As a fellow graduate of Mannington High School with Katie, I was saddened to read of her passing but rejoicing that she is now safe at Home with Jesus. For years, Katie would send me a birthday card, since I had a 'memorable' Ground Hog's Day Feb. 2 date, and she never forgot (and I would write her back). Somewhere along the line, we lost touch; but I have fond memories of a sweet gal who was a friend and a faithful Christian witness. My sympathies are extended to Ronnie & the family and pray God's comfort and grace will sustain you.
