I didn't know Dr. Weinsweig well but my family did. My parents raved about his work and about him as a person. You knew if you went to him you were taken care of. He worked on one of my best friends through his cancer and helped save his life. He did a lot of good for the community. I am sorry for your loss. Just know you have an entire community ready to support you back just as he did all of us.

Dear Family, I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved David. I met him in December of 1993, when my daughter Emily was diagnosed with a GBM; he did her surgery and was the one who delivered the diagnosis to us. that is a horrible time for any parent, but his compassion and patience in answering all our questions helped us to get through; he also helped to set us up for her treatment at Duke and they were very complimentary of his surgical skill (unlike some of the other MDs we had dealt with in Huntington). He was totally patient, yet direct and honest, when he answered all of Emily's questions as she dismantled a model of the brain in his office; we were not used to this, as she was only 8 years old. Even though the tumor took her life way too soon, he enabled us to have her with us for several more months; if it hadn't been for him, we would have lost her the night she was admitted to the hospital. We will never forget him, and pray that all the love from those who knew him lifts and carries you and comforts you in your grief.

My heart aches for Dr Weinsweig's family, friends and co-workers. I considered him a miracle worker after he completely eliminated my back pain. I was hesitant to have back surgery, but he was so confident and reassuring, and I could tell he loved what he was doing. I am praying for comfort and strength for his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, and his talent will leave a huge void in the community.

I am very sorry for your loss. He was a wonderful doctor. He saved my sons life in 1996. He had bacterial meningitis and he had fluid on his brain. I had been told by another doctor that his head wasnt swelling and i asked for second opinion and Dr.Weinsweig came in and checked him and had him in surgery 7am the next morning. I am very grateful for this man and my sincere condolences to his family.

I want to extend my sorrow in the passing of Dr. David Weinsweig who really changed my life by operating on me in 1998. Mrs.Weinsweig, Mrs, Weinsweig, ("Ma",as your son called to you).I spoke with you with your son about starting glutamine therapy. I am a dietitian, Paula. I don't know if you remember me, but you have been in my prayers since this happened. It was obvious to me that you and your son had a special relationship. Your son was never arrogant. He was one of those rare MD's, who was sweet, very intelligent and kind. He always spoke no matter how busy he was. He understood that intelligence comes in many forms and respected each individual. He was respected by so many and loved by those who knew him. May you remember him with the love he showed so many. God bless you.

Dr. Weinsweig was an amazing surgeon. He demonstrated excellent bedside manner. He never acted like I was a bother or that he had to hurry to get to the next patient. He actually took his time and listened. I can't even imagine what his family is going through and when words aren't enough just remember he was a very special one of a kind man and surgeon. He will be greatly missed.

I am a nurse and one of his patients. My heart is with you all right now. I can't imagine ho you feel but I can imagine if I lost a loved one. May you find peace and comfort in our God. AS a nurse and a patient, he as a kind and patient man. Always listened to his patients. Never mad. I've had a lot of his patients tell me if you have "neck and back trouble, go to see Dr. Weinsweig, he'll fix you right up." That there is testimony to how wonderful he was. Our prayers are with you and your family. We met Dr. Weinsweig when my daughter was 16 years old. She had suffered an injury due to cheerleading. I remember how frightened my husband and I were when we were told by Dr. Weinsweig that she needed back surgery or her injury could result in permanent paralyses. His calming words of assurance to two very scared parents were what we needed. He said, I can fix this. Sounds so simple but it meant the world to us. The personal attention and kindness shown by Dr. Weinweig helped us overcome our fears about the surgery. The counseling he provided to us before undergoing the surgery was crucial in her recovery. He also talked to our daughter about her care. He asked her about her interests and plans for the future. I still remember the day when she was admitted to the hospital for surgery. It was one of the toughest times in my life. Elizabeth had to sign some papers prior to surgery and the fear began to set in. Dr. Weinweig came in with a smile and said, You have a fan club out there. His calming words set her at ease. The cheer squad and several others came there to support us. I clearly remember my daughters face immediately after surgery, she looked at me and said, the pain is gone. You see, Dr. Weinweig fixed it. A year later to my surprise Elizabeth received a few books in the mail as a graduation gift from Dr. Weinweig. He not only gave her the gift of a healthy back, but wanted to give her some guidance in life. To the Weinweig family, we share in your grief and send you our love and prayers. He will be greatly missed in the Huntington community.

I do not believe there are words to describe the respect that Dr. Weinswags patients feel for him. He saved my life. He gave me hope, the will to live and not give up on life. The respect that I have for Dr. Weinswag and his wife Tammi are truly beyond words. During the darkest, scariest time of my life they both gave me strength and helped me see that you have to live life not be afraid of it. This community has been blessed by having him as a doctor. Love and prayers to Tammi and his children.. I can not begin to imagine the loss that you feel. I will continue to pray for your family.
