1967 - 2014
Winston Ray Jake Gill, 47, of Salt Rock, WV, went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 after a long battle with cancer. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm Sunday, September 21, 2014 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel by Pastor Kevin Shull. Burial will be in Gill Cemetery. He was born January 16, 1967 in St. Marys Hospital in Huntington, WV, a son of Howard Charlie and Leah Adkins Gill of Salt Rock. He attended Salt Rock Elementary School and graduated from Barboursville High School, Class of 85. He was the proud owner of Gill Archery. He also worked at Hobart, Appalachian Rental and Huntington Wholesale Furniture. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Lonnie and Jessie Gill, Tilman and Rhoda Adkins, Uncle Hancil Gill, Aunt Myrtle Gilkerson, Aunt Margaret Bills, Uncles Jackie Adkins and Samuel Adkins, and cousins Rita Gill Cabell, Linda Bills and Robin Gilkerson Stroud. He is survived by his parents, Howard Charlie and Leah Adkins Gill; sisters Diane (Jeff) Adkins and Angela (Gary) Coovert; brother Lonnie Gill; three nephews, Luke Adkins, Eli Adkins and Dalton Coovert; two nieces, Meagan Adkins and Delaney Coovert; one great niece, Rylan Scarberry; aunts and uncles, Jim and Helen Gill, Bobby "Mousie" and Juanita Gill, Kendall and Anna Adkins, Mary and Ray Cazad, David and Bonnie Adkins, Sheila Adkins and James Gilkerson; two special cousins, Logan and Cayden Gill; two buddies, Steve Williamson and Jimmy Sowards; and several other friends. He was one of a kind and loved by everyone who knew him! I don't think he ever met a stranger! We had a lot of great times together and we will miss our dear friend! We send our deepest sympathy to all his family! Heaven gained a new angel..Rest in peace!
