James  NicholsJames Nichols, 59, of Proctorville, Ohio passed away Sunday, September 21, 2014 at Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington, WV. He was born May 23, 1955 in Huntington, WV. He was preceded in death by his father Wallace Nichols and his mother Mary Poston Ray; and six siblings. He was a member of Brick Layers Union #7. He retired from Fosbel Ceramic Technologies where he was a ceramic welder. James was a member of Proctorville Masonic Lodge #550 F & AM and a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church. He is survived by his wife Karen Semanco Nichols; two daughters Angela Carroll of Chesapeake, Ohio and Kristina (Ben) Jeremiah of Toledo, Ohio; five grandchildren Nicholas Dillon, Isabella Carroll, Bryne Carroll, Christopher Teare and Karlee Jeremiah; three step daughters Caroline Eshbaugh, Sarah Eshbaugh and Holly Bragg; one brother Don Nichols of Portsmouth Ohio; one sister Linda Salinger of Ironton, Ohio; one brother-in-law Mark Semanco; and one sister-in-law Judy Longaker. He was loved by all of his friends. He always had a handshake and a smile. Funeral service will be conducted 10 a.m. Thursday, September 25, 2014 at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Huntington, WV by Father Mark Elliott. Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery, Proctorville, Ohio. Visitation will be held 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio. Dear Karen and family, I am so sorry for your loss. Words cannot describe how much Jim touched our lives in so many ways. He was a wonderful, generous, kind, and loving man, who ALWAYS had a beautiful smile on his face! Please know you and all of his children and grand-children are in our thoughts and prayers. I worked with Jim at Big Bear in the meat department. You could have not asked for a more caring, loving , helpful FUNNY person. He was the best. Stood in that meat department and listened to many of his tales and lies. :) He will be missed.

Karen, I always looked forward to seeing Jim and you at the Old Hemlock reunions. He always had a smile on his face and a hand reached out to great us. You are in our prayers and I am just thankful I have had the opportunity to know Jim.

Kristi I'm sorry to hear of your dads passing. I would say I know what your going through but I don't know how other than the fact that both your mom and dad were very strong people and passed double strength on to you to be able to go on. I remember as kids all us girls in the neighborhood seemed to be daddy's girls and that never goes away I'm just sorry your and to become an angel so soon. Dad also sends his regards he always thought very highly of your dad and has told several stories this evening since I told him. You and Angie are both in our prayers and if there is anything I can do for you please let me know.
