Paul Franklin Opp, Jr., 77, of Huntington, WV, formerly of Springfield, Illinois, passed away peacefully Tuesday September 23, 2014 at home. He was born February 10, 1937 in Fairmont, WV to the late Paul F. Opp Sr., and Helen Crawford Opp. Paul served as a lieutenant in the United States Air Force. He was a retired Hospital and Illinois Veterans Home Administrator. Paul was a member of American Legion Post #16, AMVETS, Vietnam Veterans Association, and the Military Officers Association. He is survived by his wife Pauly Opp; three sons Richard (Tiffany) Opp of California, Paul Elliott (Kris) Opp of Biloxi, Mississippi, and Ian (Christina) Opp of California; seven grandchildren; and two brothers Joe (Sharon) Opp of Illinois and Terry Opp of Texas. A graveside service and burial will be held at 2 p.m. Friday October 3, 2014 at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield, Illinois. Following the service, a reception will be held at 4 p.m. at The Chesapeake Seafood House, 3045 Clear Lake, Springfield, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association. Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio is in charge of arrangements. Pauly, We are so very, very sorry to hear of Paul's passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. We feel very fortunate to have known Paul and we will never forget our friendship from the European trip. Please know I think of you often.

Pauly, I am sorry to hear of your loss. Please tell your son Richard that if he would ever need a medical history or would desire contact my brother David and I would be willing to do so. If no contact is desired we understand and will respect his privacy. Again, please accept my sympathy.

Pauly and family, my deepest sympathy on the loss of Paul. It's been a long time, but i memory of Paul was that of a true gentleman and devoted family man. So sorry for your loss, Sam.

I knew Paul from WVU and Fairmont, WV as my wife, Judy Pell Adams was from Fairmont. Although our paths never crossed again after WVU I remember him as a super friendly guy. I am so sorry for your loss.
