1923 - 2014
David Clifford D.C. Smith, 91, of Proctorville, Ohio, loving husband, dad, and granddad, passed over to be united with his heavenly Father on Friday October 3, 2014 at St. Marys Medical Center, Huntington, WV. He was born August 21, 1923 in Russell, Kentucky to the late John and Maude Smith. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Viola Ramey Smith; his loving daughter Dannis Jane Webb and son-in-law Scott Webb; two grandsons David Webb and his wife Laura, and Dan Webb; three great granddaughters Grace, Taylor and Morgan Webb; two great grandsons Hunter Webb serving in the U.S. Army and Nathaniel Webb; and three honorary grandchildren Raine and Garrett Wireman, and Kyle Preston He was of Christian faith. D.C. retired from Houdaille Industries and was a United States Navy Veteran of WWII. He served on the Battleship Arkansas BB33 and also served in Fleet Air Wing 7 out of Dunkeswell, England as a Second Class Aviation Machinist Mate Crew Chief on a Navy B25 bomber. He flew 52 missions and was in the D-Day invasion. He received the D-Day Medal and the European Air Offensive Medal. He was very loving and best friend to all of his family, friends and neighbors. He was greatly loved and will be greatly missed. Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio by Pastor Mike Smith. Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery, Proctorville, Ohio. Proctorville, V.F.W. Post 6878 will conduct military graveside rites. Visitation will be held 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at the funeral home. John 3:16, For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Danni, so sorry to hear about your father. I know how hard it is to lose your parents but we both know God is in control and He will provide perfect peace, love and comfort during this difficult time. The angels surely rejoice with the presence of a wonderful man. There will be a grand homecoming one day. Love to you, Scott and family.

I'll miss Uncle Clifford very much! I have so many fun memories and wish I could be there with you all for his funeral. I'm truly sorry and you're all in my thoughts and prayers!!!
