Robert Charles Broomfield age 79 formerly of Sidney Township, Sheridan passed away on October 9, 2014 at Casa Mora Nursing Facility in Bradenton, Florida. He was born in Greenville, MI on October 27, 1934 the son of Herbert and Ida Pearl (Newman) Broomfield.
Robert was a veteran of the US Army serving in Germany during the Korean War and discharged as a Tec Sgt. with the Battery A , 33rd Field Artillery. He was married in Ft. Smith, Arkansas on September 18, 1954 to JoAnn Helen Clark and had been employed for 20 years with the General Telephone Company. He was a past member of the VFW Post # 5065 of Sheridan. He and JoAnn loved to fish together and enjoy the out of doors with their family.
His wife JoAnn preceded him in death on June 11, 2011 and his brothers Harry and Raymond Broomfield and his brother-in-law Robert Williams also preceded him.
He is survived by his children, Brenda (Steve) Mocadlo of Bradenton FL, Randy (Lena) Broomfield of Mancelona, MI., Mark Broomfield also of Mancelona, Brian (Sheila) Broomfield of Remus and Michael Broomfield of Sheridan, 12 grandchildren and several great grandchildren, his sister Annabell Williams of Greenville, sisters-in-law, Pam Broomfield and Katherine Broomfield both of Greenville and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday October 15, 2014 at 11 AM with Pastor Liz Bauman officiating at Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville. Burial with military honors will be in Lakeview Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5 to 8 PM at the funeral home.
