Larry Dean Staffen, Sr., age 69, died Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at his home in Belding. He was born January 2, 1945 in Morley, the son of Bennett and Nettie (Oness) Staffen. Larry was a 39 year employee of the former Gibson Refrigerator Company. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jean Staffen; son, Larry Staffen, Jr.; and two sisters. He is survived by his daughters, Helen (Patrick) Cooper of Howard City and Shelly (Ron) Pohl of Springport; grandchildren, Cheyenne, Lakota, Sheila, and Samantha; two sisters; many nieces and nephews; and his cat, Baby Doll. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, October 18, 2014 at Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville, with visitation from 2:00 to 3:00 pm prior to the funeral. Pastor Dennis Gilbert will serve as officiant. Private interment will be in Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society.
