Simuel Lee Ard lived in Hardin and Tyler counties her entire life. She was always surrounded by family and friends. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, sewing, and most of all cooking. If you ever visited her, she would make sure you ate well and even gave you extra to take home. Her love of God and family was most important to her. She never met a stranger and was always willing to help anyone in need. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and left many memories we will all cherish for years to come.
She is preceded in death by her parents Murrah and Dessi Gore Drake; husband Lee Roy Ard; daughter Rhonda Ard Soileau; brother Roy Drake; grandchildren Karen Cloud and Chris Sumrall and a great grandchild Chance Hatcher.
Survivors include sons Clayton Ard and wife Linda and Marvin Ard and wife Nell all of Silsbee; daughters Shirley King of Lumberton and Delores Harrington and husband Walter of Pearland; brothers George Arthur Drake and wife Bobbie of Silsbee, Harold Drake and wife Jean of Dayton, and Harvey Drake and wife Sissy of Hardin; sister Barbara Osburn and husband Kenny of Vidor; sister-in-law Candy Drake of Spurger; eleven grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Ard will be 2:00 pm Wednesday October 29, 2014 at Caney Head Assembly of God Church with interment to follow at Franks Branch Cemetery in Fred. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm Tuesday October 28, 2014 at Farmer Funeral Home.
