Athalee Trout Click for Condolences      Printable Version
1929 - 2014

Athalee TroutAthalee Trout, 85, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 25, 2014, after a short illness at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. For the last year and a half, she lived at Rose Glen Village, a senior living community, in Wilkesboro, NC where she thoroughly enjoyed living and participating in activities with her many special friends. While there, she attended Bible Way Baptist Church, but she was still a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Marion, Virginia, where her son pastors. Athalee worked at a local bank in her hometown of Huntington, West Virginia and retired years ago to spend more time with her six grandchildren. After her husband of fifty years passed, she moved to Georgia to spend 3 years with her first grandson and then moved to Virginia to be with four more of her grandchildren and spent 12 years there. Her last move was to NC to be near another grandchild and two great-grandchildren. She lived an active life and enjoyed traveling. She had traveled all over Europe and had made two trips to the Holy Land, as well as traveled various parts of the United States. Athalee was preceded in death by her mother, Opal Halbert, her husband, Miles Trout, and her sister, Gervaise McCutcheon. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Pastor Rick Glass of Barboursville, WV, and her son and daughter-in-law, Pastor Gary and Beth Trout of Marion, Virginia; and one sister, Wilma White of Charleston, WV. She has six loving grandchildren: Michael and his wife Tamara Glass of Tyrone, Georgia, Tracy Cabell and her husband David of North Wilkesboro, NC, Joni and her husband Dan Peets of Marion Virginia, Joseph Trout of Huntington, WV, Jacob and his wife Jill Trout of Tallahassee, FL, Jaclyn and her husband Robert Verbeke of Lynchburg, VA. She had eight great-grandchildren: Alan and Jonathan Glass, David and Aylie Cabell, Lexi, Tyler and Alyssa Peets, and Bryce Verbeke. The joys of her life were her children and especially her 14 grandchildren for whom she provided so many wonderful memories down through their lives. She is loved and will be greatly missed . . . until we meet again! Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until 1:30 p.m. Thursday, October 30, 2014 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville by Pastor Gary Trout and Pastor Rick Glass. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. It is with heartfelt sadness to hear of Mrs. Trout's passing. I had the pleasure of working with her years ago at Security Bank on 1st Street in Bookkeeping! My thoughts and prayers are with your family. She was a very kind lady!

We are with you all in spirit through the wonderful memories and praying. Athalee was the perfect role model when it came to her grandchildren; memories are etched in my mind and where I draw my resources from as I endeavor to emulate that kind of relationship with my grandchildren. Brenda, a lot of happy childhood memories that will sustain us until we meet again in Heaven. Praying as you celebrate her life; she is a true treasure!
