Patricia A. Baker Click for Condolences      Printable Version
1946 - 2014

Patricia A. BakerPatricia A. Baker age 68 of Greenville passed away after a long and courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday November 19, 2014.

Her positive energy and attitude brightened the lives of everyone she met. Throughout her life she was always thinking of others and even continued to put them before herself during her illness. Pat has truly lived a selfless life, giving her time and resources to her family, friends, church and many organizations; Kiwanis, Per Gradus and Womens Fellowship. She was a dedicated and talented employee of Wyoming Public schools for 40 years. Everyone who knew her described her as truly one of the nicest persons you will ever meet.

She and her husband Bob, were able to build a wonderful blended family, including Lori, Mark, Steve, Kevin, Dan, Andy and now are blessed with 14 grandchildren, and even three great grandchildren. She will be missed terribly by everyone, especially her sister, Lynda, who has been her best friend, neighbor and major care giver. Pat made every member of the family feel special and important. Through her photography and scrapbooking she documented and preserved her familys history, traditions and celebrations. She loved her pontoon and paddle boat rides on Wabasis Lake, which she called her paradise. She has been an amazing wife, mother, mother-in-law, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend. We have been overwhelmed and grateful by the number of people who have supported us with their prayers, cards and visits. We would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Cancer Care in Greenville, the Per Gradus sisters and all the supportive people from First Congregational Church. There will never be another woman like Pat and we have all been blessed to have had her in our lives.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at First Congregational Church on Saturday November 22, 2014 at 1 PM with her Pastor, Rev. Ian MacDonald serving as officiant. A time of visitation will be on Friday from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 Pm at Hurst Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Van Andel Institute or First Congregational Church

"To know her is to love her." I have had the privilege of knowing Pat since we sat on bleachers together cheering on our 7th grade girls. What a beautiful, fun, classy, always smiling, always positive, remarkable, truly genuine friend she has been. God created one of the nicest people on earth when He created Pat and gave her a heart of pure gold! God's comfort, grace and peace to all of her lovely family. My love and prayers.

I first met Mrs. Baker when I spoke at the Per Gradus meeting where I spoke to them about the organ Donor Registry. Shortly after I realized we were going to the same Church. I would always call Pat, Mrs. Baker and she would say to me that I can call her Pat, then I would say thank you Mrs. Baker. Mrs Baker was a very nice lady and a fun lady to know. I met Bob shortly after I met his wife. Very super family.

Having known Pat for every one of those 40 years of working for Wyoming Schools, I can say there was no one who could cheer up your day like Pat would. She was a constant inspiration to all who knew her. She will be missed by all; especially by those of us who worked side by side with her for so many years. Heavens gain is our loss. Love, and prayers to her family.
