Nellie Mae Bean (Sartin)

Long time Buna resident Nellie Mae Bean (89) past from this world to join her heavenly father on November 24, 2014 surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Leesville, Louisiana to Blanche Derrick (Sartin) Barton and Dingley Sartin on May 3, 1925 and moved with her parents to Texas at age 6 months. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 50 years, Robert Gerald Bean. As lifelong lovers of learning, Nellie and Gerald were active volunteers at the Buna Public Library where they were instrumental in starting an Adult Literacy program. They were also members of the First Baptist Church of Buna. Her real passion in life was her family. She was a devoted Mother and Grandmother and an inspiration to all who knew her.
She is survived by daughters, Kathryn Irey, Pat Monson and husband Donald, Ellen Cromwell and husband Nestor, grandchildren Kelley Irey, Elizabeth Runde, John Runde and his wife Katie, Renee Monson, David Monson and his wife Lou. Great-grandchildren, Fatima Moberg and her husband Paul, Joseph Monson and Christi Monson. Great-great grandchildren Karima and Lizzy Sedtal.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Saturday November 29, 2014 at Farmer Funeral Home with interment to follow at Morse Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
