Dorothy Jean Irish, age 86 of Greenville, died early Friday, December 19, 2014 at Metron of Greenville. She was born August 5, 1928 in Wayland, the daughter of Roy and Helena (Larsen) Cooper. She worked at Wolverine Worldwide for 18 years, and volunteered as a foster grandmother at Walnut Hills Elementary School for nine years. She like to travel, and especially enjoyed her trip to Denmark. She also enjoyed camping and fishing. Dorothy is survived by her children, Connie Spohn of Greenville and Glenn (Betsy) Irish of Greenville; grandchildren, Nick (Tammy) Irish of Greenville, Andrea Spohn of Lakeview, Pastor Rob (Sarah) Spohn of Tollhouse, CA, Katherine (Brian) Sommer of St. Petersburg, FL, and Jordan Spohn of Edmore; great-grandchildren, Hayley, Gabrielle, Elise, Aubree, Noah, Nathan, James, and Ella; and siblings, Doris Merritt of Carson City, Elva Kelley of Greenville, Barbara (Robert) Laderman of Greenville, and Floyd (Mary) Cooper of Sidney. She was preceded in death by her sister, Grace Manley. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, December 21, 2014 at Hurst Funeral Home, with visitation from 1:00 to 3:00 PM prior to the funeral. Dorothys grandson, Pastor Rob Spohn, will serve as officiant. Memorial contributions given to the family will be used to purchase a gift for Walnut Hills Elementary School in memory of Dorothy.
