Willie Carmen Newsome, 85, of Willow Wood, Ohio, departed this life Sunday, December 21, 2014 at Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland, KY. He was born November 20, 1929, eldest son of the late Lawrence and Georgia Dempsey Newsome. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by siblings James Newsome and Mary Ann Bryant. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Frances Ooten Newsome; children Ronnie and Pam Newsome,Teresa and Bill Blankenship and Kimberly and Larry Baisden; grandchildren Joshua and Leann Blankenship, Jessica and Jack Vance, Derek Newsome, Phillip Blankenship, Issac Baisden and Ashley and Dave Knipp; great grandchildren Julian and Darian Vance, Jonathan Vance and Liam Newsome Lafferty; siblings Zona Gail Scarberry, Swanee Mae Maynard, Lawrence Poncy and Linda Newsome, Johnny Bull and Fannie Newsome, Joyce (Samuel) Ferris and Thomas and Dean Newsome; also a very special nephew Tommy and Samantha Newsome. During Carmens life he was a veteran, saw mill operator, carpenter, construction worker and retired from the Mingo County Board of Education. Carmen moved to Ohio later after retirement to enjoy farming the land and raising cattle. He not only left behind a lot of friends and family but he made a lot of new friends. Carmen was no stranger to anyone and he enjoyed talking to people. Funeral service will be conducted 10 a.m. Wednesday December 24, 2014 at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory by Pastor Larry Casteel and Pastor Chris Johnson. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Scottown, Ohio. Visitation will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday December 23, 2014 at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio.
