Eric "Eak" Franklin Pertee Click for Condolences      Printable Version
1971 - 2014

Eric Eric Eak Franklin Pertee, 43, of Barboursville, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, December 24, 2014. He is the youngest son of Willis and Rebecca Pertee of Barboursville. He was preceded in death by his very special niece, Kelsey Rebecca Kuhn, whom he loved with all his heart. He is survived by his parents; his big brother and best friend, Greg Pertee; his big sister, Stephanie Call, and her husband Doug; his nephews, Tyler Pertee, and his fiancé Brittany Ward and her son Connor Bays, Hunter Pertee and Korey and Quentin Call; his niece, Kendall Kuhn-Barker, and her husband Sam; a special aunt and second mother, Conalee Williamson, and her companion Bob Jones; aunt Carrie Maynard, uncle T.J. Pertee, aunt Wanda Chaffin and her husband Jim, and many other relatives and friends. Ministers Amos Prince and Tex Pertee will officiate services. Brother Greg Pertee, nephews Tyler and Hunter Pertee and close friends Joey Blankenship, Mitchell Whorley and Brandon Simpson will serve as pallbearers. Eric is considered a very special person to all that know and love him. His heart was so big and so beautiful. He had such a fun-loving personality. His smile and laughter could light up a room. He was the very definition of a mommas boy and his fathers pride and joy. His brother and sister and nieces and nephews simply adored him. He faced and beat many formidable opponents in his lifetime, including cancer. Unfortunately, the battle he fought the longest finally prevailed and ended his life way too soon. Eric was a crucial part of a close-knit, loving family and will be greatly missed. Visitation will be held at Wallace Funeral Home in Barboursville from 6 to 9 p.m. on Saturday. The funeral will also be held at Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville on Sunday, December 28, 2014 at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Ridgelawn Memorial Park, Huntington. Dear Mr. and Mrs. Pertee. I hope that this message finds you. I really don't know what to say but I am very sorry. I just found out about this. I was still in high school when I met Eric, we worked at lowe's together in Teays Valley. I was going to college on a football scholarship and that's how we became such good friends. I am not sure if you all know this but he was my best man at my wedding. I feel like I have lost a brother. To let you know my mom and dad loved him like he was their own. When the time is right I have a lot of great stories that I would love to tell you and whom ever would like to listen about some of the things that Eric and I got into. Please reach out to me my phone number is 304-590-3979, also 304-521-6046. Eric was the closest thing to a brother that I could ever have. I will miss him with all my heart. I wish that I could have been there more for him.

Dear Willis and Becky. I was so very sorry to hear about Eric. Eric was a part of my life when I was a young man starting out teaching at Barboursville Jr. As a supervisor for the summer play ground at the old Barboursville Elementary I remember Eric and two other young men, David Bruce and Joel Hankins would come over every day to play hoops and wiffle ball. One of them would always have a supply of chocolate donuts and chocolate milk. They were always nice boys that didn't cause a dimes worth of trouble. I remember Eric playing football and basketball at BJHS and also being on the track team where I helped coach Tony. I also enjoyed watching Eric play football at BHS. Eric was always a gentleman. I just recently retired and I always cherished my days at Barboursville Jr. Working with kids like Eric and others gave me hope for the future. I know Eric will be terribly missed by his loving family and friends. Eric and the BJHS gang will always remain among my fondest memories as a teacher. Willis and Becky, It is with profound sadness that I learned about Eric. I'm in Fl at my daughter's home and my son called me with the news. I have many, many fond memories of Eric and I know his family have many more. As a parent I'm at a loss for comforting words for you both because I know how much your children mean to you. All I can say is that God will look upon Eric with mercy and kindness, and has prepared a place for Eric by His side. Personally, I will remember Eric in my prayers and I'll pray that God will find a way to comfort you. Believe in Him and trust His will as best you can, because He will be your comfort in the days ahead. Your friend........John VanOoteghem

Eric was truly a special person, and we thought of him as a member of our family. He really cared for his friends and had a special love for children. He was humble, non judgmental, compassionate, patient, and a had loving heart. Those are gifts from God that many of us strive to acquire and fall short. He will missed, but always loved.
