1926 - 2015
William Clinton Skeens, Jr., age 88, of Barboursville, WV, died at St. Marys Medical Center on January 8, 2015. He was born July 27, 1926, in Wayne County, WV. He was the son of the late William Clinton Skeens, Sr., and the late Effie Perdue Skeens. He was a graduate of Buffalo (Wayne) High School. During WWII, he served in the US Navy on the USS Helm. After the war he was employed by Texaco, Inc. for 27 ½ years. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Betty Billups and Marian Osburn. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Herma Lee Roberts Skeens, a son, Dr. Michael Skeens (Joyce) of Ona, a daughter, Vicki Skeens Cartmel (Tom) of Buchanan, KY; six grandchildren, Suzanne Smith, Jaqueline Elkins, Jennifer Skeens, Amanda (Jeremy) Jones, Katelynn (Justin) Menshouse and Clinton Skeens. He is also survived by three great grandchildren, Benjamin Elkins, Tabitha Smith, and Carleigh Smith and a sister, Peggy Ullom of Ceredo. Funeral services will be at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, on Monday, January 12, 2015, at 1 p.m. with Willie Purdee, Minister, officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville.
