Kenny Gillespie, 70, of Coal Grove, Ohio passed away Saturday, January 10, 2015 at The VA Medical Center, Huntington, WV. He was born March 2, 1944 in Parkersburg, WV. He was preceded in death by his father Kenneth Gillespie and aunt Vivian Cline. He was a former Ohio State Highway Patrol Officer. He also worked for Lawrence County Sheriffs Department and retired from the VAMC as a federal police officer. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and Kentucky Colonel. He was a member of American Legion Post #23, Point Pleasant, WV. He was also a member of South Point Masonic Lodge #497 F & AM. He is survived by his mother Elinor Gillespie of Belpre, Ohio; one son Kenneth (Amy) Gillespie of Crown City, Ohio; one daughter Kelli (Dave) Crabtree of Coal Grove, Ohio; companion Beverly Maynard; five grandchildren Austin Barker, Cody Bias, Morgan Gillespie, Nathan Crabtree and Joshua Gillespie; one brother Darrell (Dreama) Gillespie of Warren, Ohio; one sister Ellen (Gene) Knotts of Belpre, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 12 noon Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio by Pastor James Kessick. Proctorville V.F.W. Post 6878 will conduct military rites. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12 noon on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at the funeral home. Mr. Gillespie was a truly kind gentleman. It was a privilege to csre for hom at the VA ER, although a sad one. God rest his soul and give his family strength to deal with their loss.
