1952 - 2015

Lorraine Eileen BarracloughLorraine Eileen Barraclough, 62, of Ona, WV, passed away February 5, 2015 following a courageous life-long battle with juvenile diabetes. She was born May 24, 1952 in Cleveland, OH, a daughter of Jeanette A. Milligan of Pittsburgh, PA and the late August D. Mead. She is also survived by her husband of 41 years, Mike; two sons and daughters-in-law, Adam and Sara Barraclough of Huntington, WV and Marc and Tara Barraclough and granddaughter Elise of Pittsburgh, PA; four sisters, Diane McCallum and husband Duck of Pittsburgh, Connie Peltz and husband Rick of Mechanicsburg, PA, Dawn Mead of Sisters, OR and Patty Musick of Pittsburgh, PA; many beloved nieces and nephews; and her dear friend Midge Johner of Colorado. Visitation will be from 3-5pm Saturday, Feb 14, 2015 at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville. She was an avid reader, a windsurfing instructor, an advocate for the visually impaired and a loving mother and wife. Some of her favorite moments were spent gathered with friends and family at Deep Creek Lake, MD and she was blessed to spend the last few years of her life in the company of her beloved granddaughter. All who knew her knew of her strength, and the family would like to extend a special thanks to her Endocrinologist Dr. Elkadry, her Nephrologist Dr. Rellen and the entire Staff at the River Hills Dialysis Center at HIMG. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation to either the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (the JDRF) - http://jdrf.org/get-involved/ways-to-donate/ or the Starzl Transplant Foundation, the organization that assisted in her organ transplant at UPMC. Mike, I'm so sorry for your loss. I didn't know Lorraine very long (only from dialysis), but I liked her very much. She was a very sweet & very strong person. She always had a smile for everyone. I know she endured a lot over the years. May she rest in peace. Again, I am so very sorry.

Our shared moments with Lorraine were many years ago and far too brief. But her impact upon our lives was "groovy'. We have thought of her often and always with fondness. She may have been the nicest person we have ever known. Peace and Love, Lorraine. May we meet again some day. Hugs and Kisses to Mike.
