Eloise Shirley Davis, of Proctorville, Ohio departed this earth to her eternal home on Monday, February 16, 2015 at home following a short illness. She was born in Huntington, WV daughter of the late Clarence and Dorcas Sowards. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister Louise (Raymond) Mann and a brother-in-law Alex Balka. She is survived by her devoted husband Charles Davis; her daughter Sharon (Oscar) Hawthorne of Chesapeake, Ohio; a granddaughter Tonya (Richard) Hagley of Chesapeake, Ohio; a grandson Michael (Tracy) Hawthorne of Proctorville, Ohio; two great granddaughters Shelby (Jeremy) Reaper of Fort Walton Beach, FL and Logan Hawthorne of Proctorville, Ohio; and one sister Margaret Balka of Columbus, Ohio. She attended Grace Gospel Church. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Oakley and his staff, and the wonderful nurses of Hospice of Huntington. She will be forever missed as a wife, mother, mawmaw and sister. Her strength and dignity will live in our hearts. Funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, February 20, 2015 at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio by Pastor Jerry Matt. Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery, Proctorville, Ohio. Visitation will be held 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, February 20, 2015 at the funeral home. I a so sorry for your loss. Eloise was a poll worker when I was Deputy Director at the Election Board and was a special lady. Her beautiful personality was inspiring. She was always smiling and I am lucky to have known her.
