1922 - 2015

Marian C. BaxterMrs. Marian C. Baxter, age 92, passed away Thursday, April 23, 2015 at Our Place Cares in Greenville. She was born November 14, 1922, the daughter of Carl and Daisy (White) Soule. On December 27, 1944, Marian married the love of her life, Rodney K. Baxter. They were the model of a devoted couple, enjoying over 65 years of marriage together before Rod’s death in 2010. Marian retired from J.C. Penney in 1984 after many years of employment. She enjoyed travel, especially wintering in Arizona, and loved to read, garden, and play cards. She enjoyed golf, and played past her 90th birthday. She was a wonderful cook who baked the best cookies, and was the quintessential mother. She especially loved her grandchildren and loved spending time with them. Marian was preceded in death by her husband, Rodney; and siblings, Benjamin, Harold, Dale, and Charles Soule, Hazel Greenman, and Betty Soule. She is survived by her children, Gene (Jan) Baxter of Fenwick and Jacquelyn (Robert) Malone of Greenville; grandchildren, Kevin (Debbie) Baxter of Florida, Todd Baxter of Wyoming, Rebecca and Andrea Baxter, both of South Carolina, Erin (Erik) Beiergrohslein of Oklahoma, Jill (Brian) Butson of German, and Ryan (Kasie) Malone of Texas; great-grandchildren, Grace, Avery Kate, Luke, Madden, Bradey, Bailey, Danielle, and Jodi; great-great-grandchildren, Carsyn and Jaxon; brother, Elmer Soule of Pennsylvania; and sister, Margaret (Clark) Rasmussen of Langston. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, April 30, 2015 at Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville, with Rev. John Scott of New Life United Methodist Church officiating. A luncheon will follow at the Lester Sitts VFW Post 5065 in Sheridan. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Private interment will be in Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lester Sitts VFW Post 5065 Auxiliary.

Gene & Jackie, First of all, let me begin by expressing my deepest sympathy in the passing of your Mother. You know, I cannot remember a time when your Mother was not smiling, and it was always that same warm loving smile. She was wonderful person, and quite a lady. She and your father were loyal and dedicated to and loved each other, the two of you, and all of their far-reaching family. Their marriage of 65 years is a testament to that love, loyalty, and dedication, something that is very rare in our society today, and something to be admired. I hold the two of them in the highest regard. I’m certain you will miss her, just like you miss him. But I am even more certain that the two of them are together again, and at Peace with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. May He Bless and Keep them, as well as you and all of your family. Lastly, I wish to share that which is inscribed on my own Father’s monument, and that is simply this, “The Memories We Keep Are Ours Unchanged Forever”. I pray that you are able to reflect on and retain the wonderful memories you have of your Mother, and your Father. With Love, Jim Soule
