Juan Eugenio AuffantJuan Eugenio Auffant, 82 years old, passed away at St. Mary's Hospital following illness on May 22, 2015, surrounded by his wife and children. Juan was born on February 14, 1933 in Caguas, Puerto Rico to his parents Thomas Augustine Auffant and Gloria Auffant Jimenez. He was preceded in death by his brothers William Auffant and Thomas Auffant, very special Aunt Rosita Auffant, and his dearly loved son Ricky Auffant. Juan has been married for 62 years to Velma Ellen Smith Auffant, with four children - Juan (Johnny) E. Auffant, Jr., Joseph Auffant (Glenda), Sonia Auffant Perry (Tom), and Steven Richard (Ricky) Auffant, Sr. (Sherry); eight grandchildren - Zachary Perry (Christie), Jessica Auffant Armstrong, Alison Auffant Gundy, Zebulon Perry, Caitlin Perry, Steven Auffant, Jr. (Amanda), Aaron Auffant, Jonathan Auffant (DeeAnna); five great grandchildren - Dylan, Kayla, Aria, Ryan, and Blake. Juan was a proud Army Veteran, Master Sergeant, Retired, with 21 years service (1950 - 1971) with two tours in Korea and one tour in Vietnam. He earned the National Defense Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Good Conduct Medal with Bronze Clasp - 5 Loops, Bronze Star Medal, 1 O/S Bar, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal W/60 Device. Juan was also employed and retired as a Teamster, Local 505, through SuperValu, Inc. He will be sadly missed and forever in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations may be made to Hospice of Huntington, in the name of Steven Richard (Ricky) Auffant, Sr. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Wallace Funeral Home, Milton. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at the Wallace Funeral Home, Milton by Pastor Bill Davis. Burial will be in Templeton Cemetery, Milton. I am so very sorry to hear about John. We live so far away from each other. I always feel that condolences are just for us so we feel better Please know that you are all very special to us. I always remember you coming to Hauppauge NY to meet Louie's family I only wish that my words could be of some comfort. John was and always be remember as a soft spoken and kind person, someone that I was ever so grateful to have met and say he's my family. I am so very sorry I love you all
