Condolences to the family. I didn't have her in 1st grade, but I do remember her as always being so loving, kind, and ready to hug us all whether we were her kids or not. One time when I was little, my mom & I were in the Chillicothe Pizza Hut on a road trip and my mom discovered she didn't have enough money to pay the bill. We happened to see Mrs. Jones out the window stopping at the McDonalds next door. My mom was so embarrassed but desperate and approached her. She did not hesitate to spot us the money and make my mom NOT feel bad about it. I'll never forget that! She was such a sweet lady.

Johnna was a one of a kind friend, one of those rare unforgettable individuals who stand out in a life. She was entirely lovable--loyal, thoughtful and fun to be with. We treasure memories of vacations together, including one trip Johnna and Claudia made to London, where we each thought the other would be in charge of directions, only to discover neither of us knew north from south. And the British found her melodious southern accent mesmerizing; Johnna silenced a whole department in Harrod's by engaging a clerk in conversation!
Most of all, we will remember Johnna's optimism and honesty; there wasn't a thread of pretense or falseness in her entire being.
We loved her dearly and are honored to count her as a friend and cousin.

Mrs. Johnna Jean Eaton Jones, 84, of South Point, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on Friday May 29, 2015 at home. She was born March 11, 1931, in Chesapeake, Ohio, a daughter of the late John B. Eaton an Inez Thacker Eaton. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Ernest P. Jones; one son, Gregory E. Jones (Ella) of South Point; two grandsons whom she adored, Joshua Jones (Cassie) of Columbus, Ohio, Caleb Jones of South Point, Ohio; granddaughter Lucy Fout; a sister Carolyn E. Smith; brother-in-law Harold L. Sheets; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, a sister, Emma Belle Sheets, preceded her in death. Johnna was a graduate, majorette, and valedictorian of Chesapeake High School and held undergraduate and graduate degrees from Marshall University. She taught fourth grade for one year then the first grade for many years at South Point Elementary No. 2. She was a member of South Point United Methodist Church and frequently served as a pianist there. Johnna led a very active life and especially enjoyed the game of golf, both following the various tournaments on television and golfing with her many friends and the Ladies Nine Holers Club at the Ironton Country Club. She will be greatly missed by her family members and friends who will fondly treasure her memory and her zest for life. Funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday June 1, 2015 at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio by Rev. Kevin Dotts with visitation from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Entombment will follow in Rome Cemetery, Proctorville, Ohio. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/hall.
