Eugene Beverly Roy, Sr., 73, of Proctorville, Ohio passed away Friday June 19, 2015 at his home after a long battle with leukemia. He was a graduate from Huntington East High School, in the United States Air Force, and retired from St. Mary’s Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Beverly and Addie Brewer Roy; sister, Betty Ann Roy Chapman; and his brother, James “Jim” Edward Roy. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carolyn Sue Reed Roy of Proctorville, Ohio; daughter, Tammy Lynn (Jack) Sowards of Proctorville; son, Eugene Beverly Roy, Jr., of Wenatchee, WA; daughter Melanie Sue (Gregory) Blackburn of South Point, Ohio; seven grandchildren: Casey (Kyle) Kline of Oceanside, CA, Amanda Sowards and Nathan Sowards of Proctorville, Sharaya Sherwood of Richland, WA, Judah Benjamin Sherwood of Mansfield, WA, and Caleb Santos and Adela Santos of New Haven, MI; and one great grandson, Kolton Craig Kline of Oceanside, CA. Also surviving are two sisters, Brenda (Roy) Watts and Linda (Roy) Harless both of Huntington; two brothers Bill (Arlene) Roy of Huntington, WV and George Michael (Louise) Roy of West Lafayette, IN; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Dr. Bir and his staff at HIMG, SMMC Sixth Floor Oncology nurses and staff, and Hospice of Huntington, WV Funeral service will be conducted 10:30 A.M. Tuesday June 23, 2015 at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio by Pastor Ray Knapp. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, WV. Proctorville VFW Post #6878 will conduct military graveside rites. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday June 22, 2015 at the funeral home.
