1934 - 2015
JO ANN HUGHES (née COLLINS). Jo Ann entered eternal life on Thursday, June 25, 2015. As much as her family grieves her passing, they take great joy in knowing that while here on earth her life was led to the fullest. Always ready for an adventure, Jo Ann didn’t let illness stop her from taking a train ride at the Cass Scenic Railroad with four generations of family just weeks before her death. Jo Ann was happiest reading books of history and biographies, lounging on the beach, or spending time with her extended family. The only thing that rivaled her love of family was attending a Marshall University “Thundering Herd” football game; from tailgating to the final whistle blow Jo Ann was a cheering fan. Jo Ann influenced Huntington’s clothing style while working as a fashion buyer for the Huntington Store. Many also remember her from her second career as an Administrative Assistant for Commercial Lending at Huntington Bank. Jo Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Lennie Collins, and her brother Walter Collins. She is survived by her husband Herbert R. Hughes and four siblings, Ginny (Sonny) Carter, Mary (Paul) Mack , Jack (Sandy) Collins and Nancy (René) Moore; children Terri (Myron) Ramsey and Brenda (Steve) Hensley; grandchildren Talya (Rich) Weston and Missy (Greg) Anderson; and great-grandchildren Ella Weston and William Weston. A visitation to celebrate Jo Ann’s life will be held at Wallace Funeral Home located in Barboursville on Sunday, June 28th from 5:00 to 7:00PM. Funeral services will be held at Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville on Monday, June 29th at 11:00AM. Burial will be in Woodmere Memorial Park. If desired, in lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations may be made to Hospice of Huntington. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/wallace.

My heart and prayers goes out to you, Brenda and Terri, upon the loss of your sweet mom. She will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May knowing that you were the best daughters a mom could ever hope for give you solace and strength in the days ahead. Love, Sandy

I am Blessed to have had the privilege to get to know and be of service to Jo Ann for only a short period of time. But in that time I have grown to Love and respect Jo Ann for the Sweet person she is. I say Is (present tense) because she is more alive today then ever, sitting at the feet of Jesus, her Lord and Savior! I look forward to seeing and rejoicing with Jo Ann again when God calls me home. I just want to say what a pleasure it has been for me to get to know, laugh, cry and pray with Jo Ann. I Love You Sweetie! Until we meet again!
