Wilmer L. “Blackie” Rose of Buna passed away July 25, 2015 at Silsbee Oaks Healthcare. He was born October 29, 1926 in Honey Island and was a long time resident of Buna.
“Blackie” was a retired welder with Brown & Root and proudly served his country in the US Navy during WWII.
He is preceded in death by his parents Daniel O. and Amanda Sewell Rose and his wife Norma Jean Rose.
Survivors include son Kenneth Rose and wife Etta of Silsbee; daughters Ruth Elizabeth Martin and husband James of Village Mills, Sylvia Ann Rose and Pamela Jean Blacksher and husband Joe all of Silsbee; sister Beverly Tobias of Porter; grandchildren Gary Robinson, Bryan Martin, Dewayne Hicks, Dawn White, Kevin Rose, Randy Rose, Wesley Kay, Taylor Kay and Scott Kay and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10:00 am Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at Farmer Funeral Home with interment following in R. S. Farmer Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Monday at the funeral home.
