Bernard “Bud” Allen Chapman, 89, of Proctorville, Ohio passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at Wyngate at RiversEdge Senior Living Community, Proctorville, Ohio. He was born December 28, 1925 in Lawrence County, Ohio son of the late Lonard and Liva Chapman. He attended Chesapeake Schools and Defender Methodist Church. He was a U.S. Navy World War II Veteran serving from November, 1943 to May, 1946 and was honorably discharged. He was commissioned a Kentucky Colonel by Governor Louis B. Nunn in October, 1971 and was also a 60 year member of the Masonic Lodge, Proctorville, Ohio 550 F & AM. Bud retired from Chespeake and Ohio Railroad with 43 years of service in the Raceland, Ky shops. He is survived by his wife Maida Russell Chapman; his step children Lucy Johnson (Greg), Thomas Russell (Diana), and Andrew Russell (Linda); seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife of 57 years Doris Quinette White; his brothers Edgar Chapman, Harold Chapman and Robert Chapman; his sisters Frieda Chapman Mitchell, Helen Chapman Richardson, Louise Chapman Lambert and Ruth Chapman Dalton. This loving gentle Christian gentleman will always be a part of our hearts. The family wishes to extend many thanks to the staff of Wyngate at RiversEdge and Hospice of Huntington for their excellent care of Bud. Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, September 18, 2015 at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio by Pastor Bill Flannery. Entombment will follow at Ridgelawn Memorial Park, Huntington, WV. Proctorville V.F.W. Post 6878 will conduct military graveside rites.
