Alberta Susan Birch Payton, 96, of Barboursville, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, October 14, 2015. She was born January 20, 1919, in Cabell County a daughter of the late John and Sadie Chapman Birch. She is also preceded in death by her husband Alva Payton; one daughter, Janet Frye and five sons-in-law, Elba Frye, Elston Grose, Ottis Frye, Edward Johnston and Ronald Venoy Sr.; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, one sister and four brothers. She was the oldest member of Susannah Missionary Baptist Church. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Verna Payton; four daughters, Deloris Frye, Faye Grose, Bea Johnston and Loreen Venoy; 17 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, 23 great-great-grandchildren and two great-great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, October 17, 2015 at Wallace Funeral Home, Milton with Pastor Paul Meadows officiating. Burial will follow in Enon Cemetery, Salt Rock.
