Loral William Dee Callicoat Click for Condolences      Printable Version
1928 - 2015

Loral William Dee CallicoatLoral William “Dee” Callicoat, age 87 took his flight to Heaven on October 15, 2015 when he died at home surrounded by his loving family. Dee was a sheet metal worker and self-employed HVAC contractor by trade but his true passion was flying. He was active in the Tri-State Pilot’s Association and was a fixture at the Chesapeake Airport. He helped many people learn to fly and develop the same love of flight. He was also an avid car collector and enjoyed attending antique car shows. Dee is survived by many loving family members and friends and he will especially be missed by his special pride and joy, granddaughter, Grayson (his little “Rascal”) and by his beloved dog Gigi. . “When once you have tasted flight you will always walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward; for there you have been and there you will always be” …Leonardo de Vinci. Dee now has his own wings and will continue to fly. Private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Huntington. Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio assisted the family with arrangements. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/hall.

I am sorry to hear of the passing of Mr. Dee Calicoat. Dee will be missed. Dee loved airplanes, aviation and to fly. Dee is always so nice and interesting at Chesapeake Airport. Dee captured the spirit of flying. Dee and his Piper Cub were happiness in motion and infectious. All the guys and folks at the hanger respected Dee for his in depth knowledge and unserstanding of aviaton. Boys - and gals - with toys and then some. This is always an enlivened, free spirited time where dreams come true. I will miss Dee and I am sorry he is gone. If the family needs help or assistance in any way, please let me know. Happy Landings Dee. I will miss you. John M. Konieczny
