Time For Memory

Betty Leona Blevins, 89, of Huntington, WV was called to her Heavenly home on Sunday, December 27, 2015. In the words of her favorite hymn, she is now “Harboured in Jesus – safe evermore!”. Betty was born on September 30, 1926 to Roscoe and Bessie Clark Rollyson and was raised on Big Seven Mile Road in Lesage, WV. She was married on March 4, 1944 to James O. Blevins and they celebrated 59 years of marriage until his death in 2004. After a career as a beautician at Cora’s Beauty shop in Proctorville, Ohio, she loved being able to spend more time growing her vegetables, especially tomatoes, in her garden and working among the flowers in her yard. She loved the colors of fall and would always take a drive to Barker’s Ridge to see the beautiful fall foliage. She had a beautiful soprano voice and sang in the church choir, trio and solos all of her adult life. All who knew her knew she had a deep concern for the spiritual well being of others and loved to share Jesus and the gospel with them. She was a charted member of Christ Community Church, Sanctuary of Grace and attended Beulah Baptist Church all of Proctorville, Ohio. She also attended 6th Avenue Church of Christ with her very good friend and neighbor Louise Cazad. She was also an active attendee of the Wednesday Bible Study where she lived. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers Harold and Dale Rollyson; one sister Eldora Harshbarger; husband James Blevins; and daughter Carla Tiller. She is survived by her brother Edsel (Bernice) Rollyson; son-in-law Rodney Tiller; daughter Paulette (Norman) Fulks; grandchildren Lisa (Jeremy) Greiner and Lee Fulks; great grandchildren Cris Cremeans and Shelby Board; great great grandchildren Ian Board and William Cremeans; cousin; and a host of friends. The family would like to especially thank Hospice of Huntington for their wonderful ministry of caring for patients and families through a most difficult time. May God richly bless you. Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio by Dr. Kevin Bloomfield, Pastor Fred Mellert and Pastor Rob Jones. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, WV. Visitation will be held 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at the funeral home.
